New features in the Scientific Programme
EAU17 will feature 7 Plenary Sessions. Each of these Plenary Sessions will focus on a different topic. What’s also new are hybrid sessions (combination of poster and video sessions) and a session moderated by a lawyer to discuss different insights regarding complex cases which were eventually resolved, but not without legal complications.
The upcoming Congress will also deliberate on the urgent and controversial issues that challenge the urological community. Stenzl discloses, “EAU17 will tackle contemporary topics such as the recent results regarding prostate cancer screening in good prognosis prostate cancer (prospective randomized study - PROTECT), focal therapy in prostate cancer and immunotherapy in urologic cancer, and the use of meshes in the treatment of urinary incontinence in women will also be analysed.”

EAU17 abstract submissions surpass previous congresses
A record-breaking 5,000 abstracts for poster and video presentations were submitted for EAU17 which came from 81 countries across the globe. The most popular topics for abstract submissions were prostate cancer (screening/diagnosis, biopsies and imaging; and treatment and surgery); nephron-sparing approaches for renal tumours; functional LUTS (lower urinary tract symptoms) in terms of incontinence, neuro-urology and treatment; and BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia) diagnosis and treatment, urothelial tumours (management of infiltrative/advanced tumours and surgical management).
