Hello and welcome to the latest edition of EMJ Urology, your trusted source for an abundance of cutting-edge, peer-reviewed research papers from some of the preeminent voices working in urology today. Once again, our staff have compiled a fascinating and insightful selection of articles in the hope of providing our readers with a timely, vital overview of the current state of urological medicine. This edition includes papers by Prof Jean de la Rosette and Prof Mark Emberton who, with Dr Caroline Charles, explore the promising perspectives offered by irreversible electroporation, a novel minimally invasive treatment option for prostate cancer patients, and Dr Marc Fourmarier, who reports on his institute’s experience using holmium laser enucleation of the prostate for the treatment of day-case patients.

However, the focal point of this volume will no doubt be our in-depth review of the recent European Association of Urology Congress 2015 (EAU), which took place in Madrid from 20th-24th March. We proudly present to you the comprehensive guide to this prestigious event, featuring detailed accounts of all of the key talking points, as well as reports on a host of innovative presentations and discussions direct from the show floor. In the interest of providing an exhaustive record of the weekend’s events, we have also included interviews with some of our editorial board members and a number of summaries of poster sessions presented at the congress. We trust that the content serves as a refresher for those fortunate enough to attend, or an indispensable resource for those unable to.
