We wish you the warmest of greetings to this latest edition of EMJ Oncology. From 25th–29thSeptember, medical professionals and researchers gathered among the medieval alleyways and imperial squares of Vienna, Austria, for a momentous event, ECC 2015. In this eJournal, we have provided a synopsis of the various developments and updates presented there, for your pleasure. Featured in this issue, you will also find a selection of interviews from our venerated editorial board members, as well as an assemblage of abstract and symposium reviews to further pique your interest. This year at ECC Congress 2015, research in immunology entered the limelight alongside cancer survivorship, a staple from recent years. Alongside this, advancements in radiology, surgery, and other key aspects of cancer care were presented by some of the brightest minds in the field of oncology. Notable presentations included a study which reported that a cancer diagnosis during pregnancy should no longer be consideration for termination or delay in treatment, and further to this, research that suggests that ovarian function, and indeed fertility, can be preserved by hormone therapy in breast cancer patients. Researchers also highlighted the urgent need, worldwide, for improved access to cancer surgery.
