There are several treatment options for interventional removal of renal calculi. These include extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL), retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) and percutaneous stone treatment (PCNL). With advancement in technology and miniaturization of instruments, we now have improved armamentarium in the field of endoscopic treatments. The choice of the appropriate treatment depends on several factors, which includes the number, size, location and composition of the stone(s).
