EAU Newsletter July 2016

Dear Prof. Aleksandr Shulyak,

Summer has begun and it has brought major changes and challenges as recent political developments in Europe have created a lot of uncertainties. Read on as the EAU Board share their perspective on the situation.
Luckily, there are also things to look forward to. The Abstract and Award Submission for EAU17 have finally opened and much-awaited events such as Urology Week and ERUS16 are only a few weeks away. Brush up on what's new this month.

The European Association of Urology (EAU) understands that a referendum in the United Kingdom (UK) has suggested that there is a majority view (by a narrow margin) in support of the UK leaving the European Union (EU). As clinicians and scientists working within the EAU, we are committed to collaborative working practice across Europe for the benefit of our patients.

In the last 20 years, total radiation exposure has risen tremendously due to the increased use of computed tomography for diagnostic purposes. Knowledge about the basic principles is essential to reduce the radiation exposure for both patients and urologists.
With your help, the EAU Section of Uro-Technology (ESUT) and the EAU Section of Urolithiasis (EULIS) will able to assess the current knowledge regarding radiation physics and the current safety issues performed by the surgical staff during endourologic procedures. Please take 5 minutes to complete this anonymous survey!
